But if you read the manual, it states that it only allows a maximum 4800 baud for input. There is the dual band version, model DR-735, that allows for packet. However, this Alinco model is inexpensive and has performed very well. When I first was looking into using Winlink with VARA FM, I was a little disappointed in how there is a lack of inexpensive mobile radios (that are still in production) with a 9600 baud TX and RX.
